Advanced HIV Care Produced for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), this two-film project documents how scientific research, public health policy, and compassionate care can work together to transform outcomes for people living with advanced HIV. Filmed in Porto Alegre, Brazil, the first film follows the work of a multidisciplinary team serving one of the country's most vulnerable populations. Through intimate patient stories and the daily routine of healthcare professionals, it reveals how rapid diagnostic tests and human-centered care can mean the difference between life and death. The second film shifts the focus from individual lives to systemic impact. It explores how the partnership between PAHO, Brazil's Ministry of Health, the Rio Grande do Sul State Health Department, universities, researchers, and healthcare providers generated scientific evidence capable of improving clinical practice and influencing national public health policies. Together, the films demonstrate how communication can bridge science and society—translating complex research into compelling stories that mobilize institutions, strengthen partnerships, and ultimately help save lives.
